A graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a degree in broadcast journalism, Steve Cubine began his career in the art department working on such projects as Universal's "Mercury Rising," the NBC's TV series "Players" and FOX's TV series "Get Real," with Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg.
In 2010, Cubine began pre-production on the feature film "Leslie," based on the novel by Omar Tyree, and just finish work as co-producer and line producer on the Ten-Four Pictures dark comedy "Lucky," starring Colin Hanks, Ari Graynor, Ann-Margret, Jeffrey Tambor and Mimi Rogers.
Cubine's past productions as producer include Miramax's feature film "Our Very Own," starring Allison Janney, Cheryl Hines, Jason Ritter, Keith Carradine. "Our Very Own" received a 2005 Independent Spirit Award nomination for Allison Janney, and went on to win festival awards at the Sarasota Film Festival, Blue Grass International Film Festival, and Rome International Film Festival.
Cubine also produced the feature films "State Of Mind," the debut film of writer/director Yvette Plummer, "Chloe's Prayer," starring Cameron Daddo and Marsha Hunt, "Nite Tales," a psychological thriller starring Gary Busey, "I Do...I Did," a romantic comedy, and the thriller "Chain Letter," starring Keith David, Bai Ling and Nikki Reed. He served as an Associate Producer on "Sordid Lives," a comedy written and directed by renowned playwright Del Shores and starring Bonnie Bedelia, Beau Bridges, Delta Burke and Olivia Newton-John. In addition to his producing duties, Cubine also returned to his roots, serving as Production Designer. "Sordid Lives" was a major success on the film festival circuit that has gained cult film status and will soon be seen as a TV series on Logo-TV.
Cubine has worked for Lionsgate Entertainment on films scuh as "Employee Of The Month," starring Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook, "Why Did I Get Married," starring Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, and Sharon Leal, and "Meet The Browns," starring Angela Bassett and Rick Fox, and The Family That Preys, starring Kathy Bates, Alfre Woodard, Sanaa Lathan, and Robin Givens.
Cubine is also a writer. His first novel, "Walking On Electric Air," was published in February of 2010.
